Hayatian Literary Society organized a three day event named “1st Hayatian Literary Festival” on 20th April 2015 at Hafiz Hayat Campus UOG.
1st day on 20th April 2015, book fair on world book and copyrights was commenced at 9:30 am on 1st floor of central library. This book fair was continued for next two days (21th and 22nd of April). Main theme of the ceremony was “Read to lead”. Chairman Library committee Dr. Muhammad Mushahid Anwar (Head of Department of Geo sciences and Geography) was also there to attend the ceremony.
On the 21st April 2015, second day of Hayatian literary festival arranged a seminar on “Iqbal aur Kitab Dosti” conducted at video conference hall, Hafiz Hayat Campus, University Of Gujrat, at 12:00 pm. In which Renowned poets, philosophers, writers from all over the Punjab such as Prof. Dr Khurshid Rizvi, Prof. Dr. Zahid Munir Amir, Prof. Dr. Anwar Ahmad Director General UOG Sialkot Campus, Prof. Dr. Tabasum khasmiri, Prof. Dr. Sughra Sadaf, Prof. Dr. Sofia Bedar Sahiba, Prof. Dr Hamid Baig highlighted Iqbal’s life and his poetry. They also put light on the importance of Urdu language and books in the present era. Respected Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum paid thanks to all the distinguished guests for being the part of first Hayatian Literary Festival. The guests also visited the Book fair at Nizam ud din central Library.
A cultural Night at UOG Auditorium was also organized by HLS in collaboration with CELTS. A crown jewel attached to the crown of UOG as of date, a well organized event with exuberant colors of Pakistani Culture, Representing different genre of literary work, arts and performance by the extremely talented MPhil scholars of Centre of Linguistics and Translation Studies. The highlights include beautiful Balti Dance, performance on Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, extraordinary National award winning Tabla Nawaz – the 8th grader at APS from Sialkot, Beautiful Poem on University of Gujrat by M.Phil Scholar at CELTS, an overwhelming adoption of bazm e Tariq Aziz and concluding remarks of Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Zia ul Qayyum, that we should start sharing and giving amongst ourselves and own this country like our very own.
On 22 April 2015 Third and last day of “Hayatian literary Festival” tradition of “Urdu oral storytelling” (Dastan Goi) was refreshed. Coordinator of HLS Mr. Imran Aslam inaugurated the ceremony and welcomed all guest speakers. M.Phil scholar from Gilgit Baltistan put two beautiful folk stories before the audience. Renowned intellectual, critic, philosopher and a fiction writer Mirza Hameed Baig presented a short story and delivered a lecture on “creative writing skills” to the students. Ansar group perform Gilgit Baltistan’s traditional “Balti Dance” and “Talwar Dance”. The most interesting thing of today’s event was an English poem titled “advice” which was read by one of university bus driver, he dedicated that poem to Respected VC. President of HLS announced the Results of Creative writing competition cash prizes and certificates were distributed among winners. In closing speech President HLS paid thanks to all the team members to make the “First Hayatian Literary Festival” memorable. Memorial shields were distributed among the HLS members from UOG.
